I posted a poll about making this thread, and since most people seemed to like the idea, I thought I would share my knowledge with people who are contemplating getting into p2p but are afraid of the viruses, or people who already suffer from it.Īn all-too-common misconception of people who are unfamiliar with this software is that the program itself gives you viruses. I recently got a virus from LimeWire, and since then I have been doing alot of research into how to identify and avoid these viruses, and I was surprised at how much you can do to stop it.
Note: It'd be nice if this could get stickied if it gets good feedback (wink, wink) Hopefully this guide will help make you aware of the problem and, if you dont know already, will teach you to safely use p2p programs without getting viruses. All free music downloading programs have viruses, but by no fault of the publishers of the programs. I noticed that about every other week someone posts in this forum asking for a safe, virus free place that they can download music, and they always say it has to be free.
